pretty cushy

Hello!

Something that comes in very very handy at our house is the giant floor cushions we have.

The kids LOVE them plus they are fun and easy to make.

I've made a few here on the blog and in the recent Australian Quilters Companion May/June 2013 I have three versions for you to make.

I buy my cushion inserts online in Australia with Innergreen, if they don't have the standard size I'm after I get one made to measure.

One more week till I go to Portland for spring market!
cant wait to see what everyone is up to and go to all the meet ups :)

and before I go don't forget to enter the Craftsy Comp to win a quilting class competition closes 18th May

Everyday the sun comes up

Life does not stand still ....

everyday the sun comes up and life continues

at the moment that life entails chasing children - getting them to sleep, getting them to wake up, getting them dressed and getting them out the door - lots of other "getting them..." in between

Usually all that stuff doesn't bother me
but every now and then I get huffy
and when that happens I find the best thing to do (other than go for a walk) is make something.

Luckily for me I had been watching everyone else in the online quilting world over the last month make a scrappy trip quilt.

If you don't know what that is - then take a look at the FLICKR group hosted by Just a bit Frayed and it has all the links to the original pattern by Quiltville etc

Its a great pattern
as usual I changed it a little bit
I used 3.5 inch strips as it was what I had in my scraps from previous quilts

1 X 3.5 inch strip selvedge to selvedge (42 inch useable print) will give you two blocks

1 X Fat Quarter strip (21inch long usable print) will give you one block

each block finishes at 18inches

I think I am going to do
4 Blocks X 5 Blocks?

anyway - its been lovely to just mindlessly sit and sew over the last few days
and I love the results so far

One of my jobs for this week is to list fabric in my etsy shop!

I took delivery of lots and lots of Fat Quarters of the below text fabric with the white base cloth

I finally got my hands on some copies of my two recent magazines!
They are in Australian shops now

The below fabrics are available in my spoonflower shop - I'm thinking about buying some bulk and selling it through etsy ..... lets wait and see how I go :)

I'm off to make more scrappy blocks

Fairy Off Quilt

Howdy !

I finally have Internet and posting a quickie.

Its summer Holidays here and life has been nice and relaxing, lots of beaches and swimming with little to do but eat mangoes.....

If you have emailed me or commented on my blog in the last 3 weeks and I haven't replied - I apologies!

I've been on a beach holiday with my family and had limited internet and no computer.
I'll slowly over the next few days catch up and reply :)
I love all your emails and comments.

anyway

I have a quilt in the latest Australian Quilters Companion :)

A nice simple one for a little (or big) girl. It could be made more masculine by using different colours of course, or different types of printed fabrics.

I used Heather Ross's Far Far Away print as my base and for the theme.

Its in the January/ February 2013 edition of The Australian Quilters Companion magazine
Sorry about the wonky picture - its from my ipad :(

and I have also designed a quilt pattern for Windham fabrics - a new fabric range called PHOEBE
(the pattern is a free download)

I'm off for a swim :))

Big Block Beauty

Here you go

This is the quilt in the latest Australian Quilters Companion, Modern Quilts Special

it should be in store in Australia soon

This Quilt is a big one - measuring 84 X 108 inches

In my picture its on a king Size Bed,
in the magazine its on a queen size bed.
This is a re sized big version of an old block - the Courthouse steps

Its a great pattern for using up all your bits n pieces of your stash or even finally making that quilt out of your old favourite dresses and vintage fabrics.

My Quilt is very bright and bold using a different colour for every block and for the neutrals I have used variations of white with grey text/ print.

If your looking for Text print fabrics or plain neutral backgrounds - I have some in my Spoonflower store.

So many variations are possible with this pattern!

the magazine also has a 4 page story about me and pictures of other quilts I have made :)

the lovely quilt on the cover is by Cathy Underhill from Mt Martha Victoria, Australia.

The other projects are by
Brenda Gael Smith
Jenny Pedigo
Cynthia Muir
Jen Carlton Bailly
Charlotte Dumesny
and
Bill Kerr & Weeks Ringle

Enjoy the rest of your weekend
