Spring time colours & Liberty Advice

I can feel spring in the air!

I'm a big fan of the in-between seasons.

I usually find that when the weather starts to change so does my fabric buying habit - take for example the linen that was delivered today (pictured below)

Yellow - Pink - Sand

On the subject of Fabric buying

I had an email asking about Liberty of London Fabrics. Liberty of London Tana Lawn is a lovely soft fabric that can be on the $$$ side. I have made a few quilts in the last year or so with Liberty of London fabric - one being a queen bed sized that was in Down Under Quilts Magazine #151.

I had been collecting my fabrics for a really long time - buying 1/2 yards at a time. Some from shops in Paris, London, online from Purl soho and in person from Sydney Shop Calico & Ivy. It is beautiful and does make a lovely quilt. If your using the Tana Lawn Fabrics it can be a little slippery to sew with, I recommend using a spray starch to help make it stable and easy to handle. 

If anyone has a "Go To" shop to buy Liberty of London I'm sure everyone would love to see, leave a link and everyone can have a look.

I hope the weather keeps up in Sydney over the coming week - and the weather in New York City is lovely for my trip next week!

I've no Idea

Whats been going on !

I have Been very busy - apart from the usual mayhem I have been finishing off a few magazine jobs and preparing for a big family birthday party which we had last weekend. 

I should be back on Line now!!

These are some images of a quilt I did some months back (still no binding.....)

Its a Quilt made from my Yes/No thesaurus material I designed & printed on spoonflower

My kids find it hard to get a straight answer out of me, but the older they get the smarter they get - and now I'm getting it back. 

*Parenting note for any new parents - what ever trickery you cleverly use when they are young, comes back to haunt you :)

I really really like the loopy machine Quilting, Kim Bradley very patiently listened to my gabbling about running writing loops and not wanting to free motion quilt (cause it takes too long and I'm impatient). Finally Kim came up with the idea of drawing it and we discussed the size of the loops etc - voila! her clever husband scanned it and now it's a long arm machine pattern and I think she is the best ever! again that could be a technique my kids have learnt from me - pester long enough and it will happen :)

Having been busy I am yet to email the lucky winner of the scrap bag - I'm onto it now - I promise

Yes or No ?

I'm very non comital with a lot of my answers - mostly when it comes to the kids questions. So much so that even my four year old has caught on and will press me with "Is that a yes or a no?"

So with that in mind I created a Yes and No version of my Thesaurus text fabric.

I mixed it up with some yellow Robert Kaufmann, plain white and a scrap of a yellow and grey check I had left over.

I  made it 1.8 x 1.7, which will be a nice snuggly size for the lounge. With the bright modern mix I thought it would suite a lounge room. Great way to update your colours and add some fun.

I've also been busy rearranging the house.

My Stash has a new home, although still not perfect I'm very happy with the change of home for most of my sewing stuff. One day i might even have a sewing room..........

Waiting Waiting

I'm not always good at waiting - actually I'm not good at all at waiting. I have three projects on the go and all three are missing the final bits of material, which luckily I tracked down and am now waiting on. I have my Text quilt, the girly pink and linen and my wonky crosses ....... all waiting to be finished. Christmas time really is a tricky time to get things done! post is slow - shops are busy and my Favourite Machine quiltest (not sure thats a word) is very busy.

So onto another project!! that is not at all christmas related (did I mention I haven't done any christmas shopping?). I do like the idea of a spotty quilt.

Onto the much discussed boy Quilt, I've sorted all my boy Fabrics and I'm kinda surprised..... Didn't know I had so many.

What do you think?
I'm not usually a yellow person but I think Im going to try it,That dark fabric is a grey but it's come out too dark in the picture.
I'll keep you posted on how it's going and Promise I will try to finish my other three quilts, not to mention the binding of two other single bed quilts. although I did finish one single bed yesterday - 4hrs of binding and very happy it's done and ready for use.
Please tell me Im not the only one who has unfinished projects coming out my ears.....
